HARVEY CEDARS, NJ February 4, 2005
The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Harvey Cedars, NJ was called to order by Mayor Oldham at 4:30pm who stated to the best of his knowledge all requirements of the State Sunshine Law had been met. Commissioners Gerkens and Garofalo and Board Attorney John Cerefice were present.
Police Chief John Sarnoski addressed the Board regarding his upcoming retirement. A copy of his written words is attached.
Motion to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, January 18, 2005, was made by

AMOUNT: $18,000.00
This project was advertised as $20,000.00. After receiving quotes for electrical and carpentry work, the amount has been adjusted to $18,000.00.

REPORTS FROM COMMISSIONERS:
Commissioner Gerkens –
· The beaches are in poor shape again from the last storm.
· The Mayor and I met with the County Road Department regarding our Boulevard needs.
· The public works department has had a lot of illnesses this season.
Mayor Oldham –
· Met with Ocean County Road Department to discuss:
o permit issues with the side of the roads
o encourage them to trim brush from the side of the road
o improve the 80th Street crossover for business traffic
· Met with Congressman Saxton and the Island Mayors regarding the beach replenishment project and Long Beach Township’s access issues
· Harvey Cedars lost a long time resident, Ed Hathaway. He was a police officer at one time, lifetime member of the Fire Company and First Aid Squad, the Republican County Committee member, and father of one of our employees. He will be missed.
