HARVEY CEDARS, NJ                                                       March 15, 2005

 

The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Harvey Cedars, NJ was called to order by Mayor Oldham at 4:30pm who stated to the best of his knowledge all requirements of the State Sunshine Law had been met.  Commissioners Gerkens and Garofalo were present.

 

Motion to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, March 4, 2005, was made by

Commissioner Gerkens, seconded by Commissioner Garofalo.

 

ORDINANCE #2005-10 FIRST READING

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 7 OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS, 1975, ENTITLED “SEWER AND WATER”

(Increase water/sewer rates)

Motion to adopt:  Commissioner Gerkens

Second:  Commissioner Garofalo

ORDINANCE #2005-11 FIRST READING

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 3 OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS, 1975, ENTITLED “POLICE REGULATIONS”

($100 fine established for not covering dumpsters)

ORDINANCE #2005-12 FIRST READING

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 4 OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS, 1975, ENTITLED “GENERAL LICENSING”

(Establish Lifeguard In Training fee of $50.00)

RESOLUTION #2005-026:

INTRODUCTION OF MUNICIPAL BUDGET FOR 2005 TO BE READ BY TITLE ONLY

      Municipal Budget of the Borough of Harvey Cedars, County of Ocean for the Fiscal Year 2005.

BE IT RESOLVED that the following statements of revenues and appropriations shall constitute the Municipal Budget for the year 2005.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said budget be published in the Beach Haven Times in the issue of March 23, 2005.

A hearing on the Budget and Tax Resolution will be held at the Municipal Building, 7606 Long Beach Blvd., Harvey Cedars on Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at 4:30pm at which time and place objections to said Budget and Tax Resolution for the year 2005 may be presented by taxpayers or other interested persons.

Commissioner Garofalo explained the total budget is $3,125,772.64, which will result in a 2.2% increase from last year; salaries, insurance and health benefit payments have increased as well as payments to the pension systems that have not been required in the last few years.

RESOLUTION #2005-027:

AUTHORIZING A NEW CONTRACT BETWEEN THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS AND THE HARTFORD DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN

    Second: Commissioner Garofalo

 

RESOLUTION #2005-028:

OBJECTING TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT’S CUTS TO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS
