HARVEY CEDARS, NJ                                                       October 7, 2005

 

The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Harvey Cedars, NJ was called to order by Deputy Mayor Gerkens at 4:30pm who stated to the best of her knowledge all requirements of the State Sunshine Law had been met.  Commissioner Garofalo and Board Attorney John Cerefice were present.  Mayor Oldham was absent.

 

Motion to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, September 20, 2005, was made by

Commissioner Garofalo, seconded by Commissioner Gerkens.

 

ORDINANCE #2005-19 SECOND READING

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS, 1975,

ENTITLED “ADMINISTRATION”

(Amend Joint Environmental Commission to exclude Long Beach)

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS, COUNTY OF OCEAN, STATE OF NEW JERSEY AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING THE BOROUGH CODE OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS TO ADD TO CHAPTER 3, ENTITLED “POLICE REGULATIONS”, SECTION 3-18 ENTITLED “CUTTING OF PAVERS, BRICK AND CONCRETE”

RESOLUTION #2005-081: Bills

Motion to approve request to use Sunset Park to Steve McCabe and the US Sports Institute for a multi-sports camp on July 24, 2006 to July 28, 2006 from 9am-6pm:

      The Board held this request to obtain more information regarding the length of the program.

 

REPORTS FROM COMMISSIONERS:

Commissioner Garofalo –

·        Our Coastal Advocate Ken Smith passed away this weekend.  It’s a shame he will not see the beach project come to fruition. Our condolences to his family.  He will be missed.

Commissioner Gerkens –

·        The scouts were in the park this past weekend for dune grass planting.

·        “Bunker” court was held in Pt. Pleasant Beach this week.  The judge ordered restitution to Harvey Cedars in the amount of $1,861.45 for the cleanup of the fish spill that occurred on our beaches July 26th.

·        The construction of the watermain project will begin the 19th.

·        The beach project will start after the Army Corps does a survey of the beach next week.

 

PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR –

 

              Fred Schragger, 7 E. Salem Ave., introduced himself to the Board and said he is now a fulltime resident in Harvey Cedars and would like to volunteer and get involved in the community.  He is an attorney and can serve on a board if needed.  The Board welcomed him and would advise the Mayor.
