HARVEY CEDARS, NJ April

The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of
Harvey Cedars, NJ was called to order by Mayor Oldham at 4:30pm who stated to
the best of his knowledge all requirements of the State Sunshine Law had been
met. Commissioners Gerkens and Garofalo
and Board Attorney John Cerefice were present.
The Mayor asked all to rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor Oldham introduced Robert Garguilo, Superintendent, and Christina
Galvao, Business Administrator, of the Long Beach Island School District. Mr. Garguilo and Ms. Galvao played an
informative video of the programs and events that take place at school. After the video, they discussed and gave
handouts on the LBI school budget. The
general fund budget for 2007-2008 has been reduced by 2%. The school’s average tax rate is 4.22 cents,
which is a zero increase. Based on the
most recent available State data, this rate is lower than 95% of the school
districts in New Jersey. Harvey Cedars’
rate will decrease this year. A $1,113,000
home in Harvey Cedars will pay a total local school tax bill of $410.
Bobby Spark, West 83rd Street, asked if the tax bill could be
clarified by changing “Local Tax” to “Local School Tax”. Commissioner Garofalo said he would check.
After a brief discussion, the Mayor thanked Mr. Garguilo and Ms. Galvao
for their presentation and reminded everyone the school election is April 17th.
Motion to
approve the minutes of the previous meeting, March 20, 2007, was made by
Commissioner Garofalo, seconded by Commissioner Gerkens.

Commissioner Gerkens.
