PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR –

Art Ballinger, West 77th Street, asked questions regarding the increase in water rates.  The Board explained that the Borough will be switching to a metering system in a year, but the Utility Fund was running in the red and adjustments to rates had to be made at this time. The Commissioners met with the auditor and it was decided the best way to increase the revenue was by increasing the base rate as well as the rates for sprinklers, pools and hot tubs.

The Board discussed with Mr. Ballinger the meter project.  The Borough will allow an existing meter to be converted to an automatic-read meter if it is possible.  This would be determined on an individual basis.  The new rate structure for metering will be effective in 2009.  The State mandated the meters and gave Harvey Cedars a year to install the meters and another year to read the meters to establish rates.  The Board invited Mr. Ballinger to meet with them to discuss in detail the implementation process.

Motion to adjourn: Commissioner Garofalo

Second: Deputy Mayor Gerkens

Meeting adjourned at 4:50pm.
