PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR –
Mr. Ralph Herman, 3 Buckingham Ave., and Ms. Mutya Shaw, 7A 70th Street, voiced their concerns about the 68th Street and 70th Street beach dunes being very high to climb up and down. Commissioner Gerkens said she will have Public Works look at it; the last storm created steep drop offs at the beach accesses. Ms. Shaw stated she has seen the bulldozer on the beach and asked when it will be moving towards her area. Commissioner Gerkens said the Borough is currently protecting the areas that are severely threatened. Commissioner Gerkens said she rode the beaches today with the Superintendent to assess the erosion.
Mr. Herman stated that in addition to the $250 (for the water meters) it will cost about $1,000 to run a water line from the street. Commissioner Garofalo said the laterals already exist, but some properties need meter pits; Mr. Herman has an existing meter pit and only has to pay the $250 for the meter.
Deputy Mayor Gerkens announced that there is a new radio station broadcasting from Harvey Cedars for emergency announcements. During non-emergency times, NOAA weather will be broadcasted and community events will be announced. The frequency is 1670 AM.
Motion to adjourn: Commissioner Garofalo
Second: Deputy Mayor Gerkens
Meeting adjourned at 4:44pm.
