HARVEY CEDARS, NJ                                                       September 7, 2007

 

The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Harvey Cedars, NJ was called to order by Mayor Oldham at 4:33pm who stated to the best of his knowledge all requirements of the State Sunshine Law had been met.  Commissioners Gerkens and Garofalo and Board Attorney John Cerefice were present.

 

The Mayor asked all to rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Motion to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, August 21, 2007, was made by

Commissioner Garofalo, seconded by Commissioner Gerkens.

 

The Mayor read the following ordinance by title and number and asked for a motion to introduce. 

ORDINANCE #2007-15 FIRST READING

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS, IN THE COUNTY OF OCEAN, NEW JERSEY, PROVIDING FOR THE PURCHASE OF VARIOUS EQUIPMENT FOR THE BOROUGH AND APPROPRIATING $180,000 THEREFOR, AND PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF $171,000 IN BONDS OR NOTES OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS TO FINANCE THE SAME

The Mayor read the following ordinance by title and number and stated that proof of publication is on hand and the ordinance has been posted.  Public hearings for this ordinance were held on August 3, 2007 and August 21, 2007.

ORDINANCE #2007-13 SECOND READING

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 13 OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS, 1975, ENTITLED “ZONING”

(Amend height, lot coverage, floor area ratio, etc.)

AUTHORIZING REFUND OF TENNIS COURT FEES

RESOLUTION #2007-084: 

ENDORSING AND ENCOURAGING VOTERS TO VOTE YES FOR THE “GREEN ACRES, FARMLAND, BLUE ACRES AND HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOND ACT OF 2007”

The Mayor read the following resolution by title only and asked for a motion to adopt.

RESOLUTION #2007-085: Bills

A copy of the resolution is attached hereto and made a part hereof.

Motion to approve the bills for payment was made by Commissioner Gerkens, seconded by Commissioner Garofalo.

 

 A motion was made by Commissioner Gerkens to approve request to the use of the ballfield in Sunset Park for a multi-sports camp to U.K. Elite (in conjunction with Rushmore Soccer) July 21, 2008 to July 25, 2008 from 9am to 1pm, seconded by Commissioner Garofalo.

 

REPORTS FROM COMMISSIONERS:

Commissioner Garofalo reported the total beach badges sales for this season were $194,113; higher than the $165,000 that was anticipated.  This is mainly due to the increase in seasonal badges.  The Mayor added that there were complaints that some beaches did not get checked for badges; however, he was told (at the Taxpayer’s Association meeting) that there were checkers seen frequently at the heavily used beaches.
