HARVEY CEDARS, NJ                                                       September 18, 2007

 

The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Harvey Cedars, NJ was called to order by Deputy Mayor Gerkens at 4:33pm who stated to the best of her knowledge all requirements of the State Sunshine Law had been met.  Commissioner Garofalo and Board Attorney John Cerefice were present.  Mayor Oldham was absent.

 

The Deputy Mayor asked all to rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Motion to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, September 7, 2007, was made by

Commissioner Garofalo, seconded by Deputy Mayor Gerkens.

 

The Deputy Mayor read the following ordinance by title and number and asked for a motion to introduce. 

ORDINANCE #2007-16 FIRST READING

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS, IN THE COUNTY OF OCEAN, NEW JERSEY, PROVIDING FOR THE ACQUISITION OF EASEMENTS LOCATED IN THE BOROUGH AND APPROPRIATING $50,000 THEREFOR, AND PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF $47,500 IN BONDS OR NOTES OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS TO FINANCE THE SAME

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS, IN THE COUNTY OF OCEAN, NEW JERSEY, PROVIDING FOR THE PURCHASE OF VARIOUS EQUIPMENT FOR THE BOROUGH AND APPROPRIATING $180,000 THEREFOR, AND PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF $171,000 IN BONDS OR NOTES OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS TO FINANCE THE SAME

A RESOLUTION OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS, COUNTY OF OCEAN EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR A REDUCTION IN THE SIZE OF THE STATE BUREAUCRACY BY DOWNSIZING THE STATE WORK FORCE, SPECIFICALLY IN THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH OF GOVERNMENT

Motion to approve the bills for payment was made by Commissioner Garofalo, seconded by Deputy Mayor Gerkens.

 

REPORTS FROM COMMISSIONERS:

Commissioner Garofalo announced that Jarrod Shoemaker, resident and former Harvey Cedars Lifeguard, raced this past weekend in Beijing and qualified for the US Olympic Team in the triathlon event.  Congratulations and best wishes were expressed by the Board.
