HARVEY CEDARS, NJ                                                       January 15, 2008

 

The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Harvey Cedars, NJ was called to order by Mayor Oldham at 4:31pm who stated to the best of his knowledge all requirements of the State Sunshine Law had been met.  Commissioners Gerkens and Garofalo were present.

 

The Mayor asked all to rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Motion to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, January 4, 2008, was made by

Commissioner Gerkens, seconded by Commissioner Garofalo.

 

The Mayor read the following ordinance by title and number and asked for a motion to introduce. 

ORDINANCE #2008-01 FIRST READING

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 5 OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS, 1975, ENTITLED “ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE CONTROL”

(Increase liquor license fees)

The Mayor read the following resolution by title only and asked for a motion to adopt.

RESOLUTION #2008-019: 

AUTHORIZING THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH STAFFORD TOWNSHIP FOR ANIMAL CONTROL SERVICES

The Mayor read the following resolution by title only and asked for a motion to adopt.

RESOLUTION #2008-020: 

AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE COUNTY OF OCEAN FOR PURCHASE OF MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES FOR THE 2008 ROAD & TRAFFIC LIGHT MAINTENANCE

(SCHEDULE “C”)

RESOLUTION #2008-021: 

AUTHORIZING THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE OCEAN COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH FOR ANIMAL FACILITY SERVICES FOR THE YEAR 2008

The Mayor read the following resolution by title only and asked for a motion to adopt.

RESOLUTION #2008-022: Bills

A copy of the resolution is attached hereto and made a part hereof.

Motion to approve the bills for payment was made by Commissioner Garofalo, seconded by Commissioner Gerkens.

 

The Mayor asked for a motion to open public discussion regarding the 2008 Ocean County Community Development Block Grant funding; citizens and non-profit agencies are invited to comment on the housing and community development needs of the Borough.

No public was in attendance, but Commissioner Gerkens stated that the Taxpayers’ Association was notified of this grant hearing and its requirements.

 

The Board discussed the installation of drinking fountains in the park that are handicap accessible.  The cost of one fountain ranges from $2,500 to $3,000.  The drinking fountains are also pet accessible. Depending on the size of the fountain, they can also be installed at the two handicap ramps.

 

The Board also discussed the grade of the walkway entrance to Sunset Park at Salem Avenue. This will be fixed during the ongoing paving project of Salem Ave.
