HARVEY CEDARS, NJ                                                       May 20, 2008

 

The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Harvey Cedars, NJ was called to order by Mayor Oldham at 4:32pm who stated to the best of his knowledge all requirements of the State Sunshine Law had been met.  Commissioners Gerkens and Garofalo were present.

 

The Mayor asked all to rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Motion to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, May 2, 2008, was made by

Commissioner Garofalo, seconded by Commissioner Gerkens.

 

Motion to approve the minutes of the special meeting, May 13, 2008, was made by

Commissioner Gerkens, seconded by Commissioner Garofalo.

 

The Mayor read the following ordinance by title and number and asked for a motion to introduce. 

ORDINANCE #2008-07 FIRST READING

AN ORDINANCE FIXING AND DETERMINING THE ANNUAL BASE SALARIES OF CERTAIN OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS FOR THE YEAR 2008

A copy of the full ordinance as introduced is attached hereto and made a part hereof.

The Mayor read the following resolution by title only and asked for a motion to adopt.

RESOLUTION #2008-061: 

SUPPORTING THE CLICK IT OR TICKET MOBILIZATION OF MAY 19 – JUNE 1, 2008

The Mayor read the following resolution by title only and asked for a motion to adopt.

RESOLUTION #2008-062: 

AMENDMENT TO THE POLICY AND PROCEDURE MANUAL FOR THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS

The Mayor read the following resolution by title only and asked for a motion to adopt.

RESOLUTION #2008-063: Bills

A copy of the resolution is attached hereto and made a part hereof.

Motion to approve the bills for payment was made by Commissioner Gerkens, seconded by Commissioner Garofalo.

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Garofalo, seconded by Commissioner Gerkens, to approve the request to use Sunset Park to Sharon Morris for a birthday party on Sunday, June 8th at 11:00am.

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Gerkens, seconded by Commissioner Garofalo, to approve the request to use Sunset Park to Lisa Edelstein for a birthday party on Sunday, July 6th at 11:00am.

 

The Board reviewed the request submitted by the Stateroom of LBI to use Sunset Park for a wedding ceremony on Friday, July 18th at 5:00pm for approximately 125 people.  After a brief discussion, the Board decided to deny the request for a commercial establishment to reserve the park, and directed the Clerk to inform the business of its decision.
