HARVEY CEDARS, NJ                                                       August 1, 2008

 

The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Harvey Cedars, NJ was called to order by Mayor Oldham at 4:31pm who stated to the best of his knowledge all requirements of the State Sunshine Law had been met.  Commissioners Gerkens and Garofalo and Board Attorney John Cerefice were present.

 

The Mayor asked all to rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Motion to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, July 15, 2008, was made by

Commissioner Gerkens, seconded by Commissioner Garofalo.

 

The Mayor read the following ordinance by title and number and asked for a motion to introduce. 

ORDINANCE #2008-11 FIRST READING

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING CHAPTER 8 OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS, 1975, ENTITLED “TRAFFIC”

(Repealing 2 hour parking time limit)

A copy of the full ordinance as introduced is attached hereto and made a part hereof.

Motion to adopt: Commissioner Garofalo

Second: Commissioner Gerkens

Vote: Ayes – Oldham, Gerkens, Garofalo

 

The Mayor read the following resolution by title only and asked for a motion to adopt.

RESOLUTION #2008-085: 

AUTHORIZING THE TAX COLLECTOR TO TRANSFER TAX OVERPAYMENT TO THE NEXT OPEN TAX BALANCE

A copy of the resolution is attached hereto and made a part hereof.

Motion to adopt: Commissioner Gerkens

Second: Commissioner Garofalo

 

The Mayor read the following resolution by title only and asked for a motion to adopt.

RESOLUTION #2008-086: Bills

A copy of the resolution is attached hereto and made a part hereof.

Motion to approve the bills for payment was made by Commissioner Gerkens, seconded by Commissioner Garofalo.

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Garofalo, seconded by Commissioner Gerkens, to approve the use of the ballfield in Sunset Park to the Martyn Rushmore School of Soccer for a soccer camp for the following weeks in 2009 from 9am to 1pm:

·        July 13, 2009 to July 17, 2009

·        July 27, 2009 to July 31, 2009

·        August 24, 2009 to August 28, 2009

           

A motion was made by Commissioner Garofalo, seconded by Commissioner Gerkens, to approve the use of the ballfield in Sunset Park to U.K Elite / Rushmore Soccer for a multi-sports camp for the following weeks in 2009 from 9am to 12pm:

·        July 20, 2009 to July 24, 2009

·        August 3, 2009 to August 7, 2009

 

REPORTS FROM COMMISSIONERS:

Mayor Oldham –

·        The Mayor said he met with the DEP and Army Corps this week; they will be going out to bid for the beach project with 2 options; 1 for a $4.9 million project and the other to complete all of Harvey Cedars.  There is a good chance the federal funds will be appropriated for the full project. Details of the project are currently being worked on such as the walkovers, emergency vehicle access and bonding.
