HARVEY CEDARS, NJ                                                       October 21, 2008

 

The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Harvey Cedars, NJ was called to order by Deputy Mayor Gerkens at 4:30pm who stated to the best of her knowledge all requirements of the State Sunshine Law had been met.  Commissioner Garofalo was present and Mayor Oldham was absent.

 

The Deputy Mayor asked all to rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Motion to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, October 3, 2008, was made by

Commissioner Garofalo.

 

The Deputy Mayor read the following ordinance by title and number and asked for a motion to introduce. 

ORDINANCE #2008-17 FIRST READING

BOND ORDINANCE REAUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF $821,769.26 BONDS OR NOTES OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS, IN THE COUNTY OF OCEAN, NEW JERSEY TO PROVIDE FOR VARIOUS GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS PREVIOUSLY AUTHORIZED AND SUPPLEMENTING AND CONFIRMING VARIOUS BOND ORDINANCES OF THE BOROUGH

BOND ORDINANCE REAUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF $484,500 BONDS OR NOTES OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS, IN THE COUNTY OF OCEAN, NEW JERSEY TO PROVIDE FOR WATER/SEWER UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS PREVIOUSLY AUTHORIZED AND SUPPLEMENTING AND CONFIRMING VARIOUS BOND ORDINANCES OF THE BOROUGH

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS, IN THE COUNTY OF OCEAN, NEW JERSEY, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2007-16 OF THE BOROUGH FINALLY ADOPTED ON OCTOBER 5, 2007, PROVIDING FOR THE ACQUISITION OF EASEMENTS LOCATED IN THE BOROUGH AND APPROPRIATING $100,000 THEREFOR, AND PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF $95,000 IN BONDS OR NOTES OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS TO FINANCE THE SAME

Al Wright asked if the Borough made any settlements (with the non-signers of deeds).  Commissioner Gerkens stated that the Borough is still in the process of negotiations and this ordinance provides for more money towards the process.

REPORTS FROM COMMISSIONERS:

Commissioner Garofalo –

·        Construction on a new breakroom was started at the Public Works garage.  This project has been planned for a while; a chemical-free area is being provided for the employees.

 

Al Wright asked if Cedars Avenue will be re-paved.  Commissioner Garofalo said the backside of Cedars Avenue is on the list for next year; the following year will possibly be Buckingham Ave.; and Maiden Lane will be paved shortly.  Reconstruction on Lange Avenue and Fives Avenue has started.
