HARVEY CEDARS, NJ                                                       March 6, 2009

 

The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Harvey Cedars, NJ was called to order by Mayor Oldham at 4:36pm.  Commissioners Gerkens and Garofalo and Borough Attorney William Hiering, Jr. were present.

 

The Mayor asked all to rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

The Mayor stated that pursuant to the applicable portions of the New Jersey Open Public Meetings Act, adequate notice of this meeting has been given.  The schedule of this meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Harvey Cedars is listed in the notice of meetings posted on the bulletin board located in the Borough Hall, posted on the Municipal website and was published in the Beach Haven Times on December 24, 2008.

 

Motion to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, February 17, 2009, was made by

Commissioner Garofalo, seconded by Commissioner Gerkens.

 

The Mayor read the following resolution by title only and asked for a motion to adopt.

RESOLUTION #2009-029: 

AUTHORIZE TEMPORARY CAPITAL BUDGET

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS, IN THE COUNTY OF OCEAN, NEW JERSEY, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2007-16 OF THE BOROUGH FINALLY ADOPTED ON OCTOBER 5, 2007, SUBSEQUENTLY AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 2008-15 OF THE BOROUGH FINALLY ADOPTED ON OCTOBER 21, 2008, PROVIDING FOR THE ACQUISITION OF EASEMENTS LOCATED IN THE BOROUGH AND APPROPRIATING $300,000 THEREFOR, AND PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF $285,000 IN BONDS OR NOTES OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS TO FINANCE THE SAME

Al Wright, Cedars Ave., asked where a park/playground would be built on Essex Avenue.  The Mayor responded that Congressman Adler invited municipalities to submit applications for projects to do in town; the Borough owns a regular building lot on Essex Avenue, and if Federal funding is received the Borough may use it to beautify the lot.

 

The Mayor mentioned that letters have been received by residents thanking the police, DPW and fire departments for their services during the winter and during the recent snow storm, and he appreciates the residents taking the time to write the Borough.
