ORDINANCE NO. 2008-16

 

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 12 OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS, 1975, ENTITLED “BUILDING AND HOUSING”

 

            WHEREAS  effective January 1, 2009, the County of Ocean will no longer provide plumbing, fire and electrical sub-code inspection services for the Borough of Harvey Cedars; and

 

            WHEREAS it is the desire of the Borough of Harvey Cedars to set forth fees to be charged for said services.

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF THE COMMISSIONERS OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS, as follows:

 

Section 1.         Section 12-2 Fee Schedules, Schedule “A”, item 2. Plumbing Subcode Fees is hereby repealed in its entirety and replaced with the following:

 

2.  PLUMBING SUBCODE FEES.

 

A.  FIXTURES AND APPLIANCES:  Fixtures, equipment or appliances connected to the plumbing system and for each appliance connected to the gas or oil piping system, (except as listed in B)

            1.  1 to 4 fixtures:                      not less than $50.00

            2.  For each fixture over 4:        $12.00 per fixture

 

B.   SPECIAL DEVICES:  Grease traps, oil separators, water-cooled air conditioning units, refrigeration units, utility service connections, back flow preventers equipped with test ports (double check valve assembly, reduced pressure zone and pressure vacuum breaker backflow preventers), steam boilers, hot water boilers (excluding those for domestic water heating) gas or fuel oil piping, sewer pumps, sump pumps and sewer interceptors, each……………$70.00

 

C.  Plumbing permit re-instatement fee ………$50.00

 

Section 2.         Section 12-2 Fee Schedules, Schedule “A”, item 3. Fire Protection Subcode Fees is hereby repealed in its entirety and replaced with the following:

 

3.  FIRE PROTECTION SUBCODE FEES.

 

A.  The minimum fire protection subcode fee shall be $50.00.

 

B.   FIRE PROTECTION AND OTHER HAZARDOUS EQUIPMENT:  Sprinklers, standpipes, detectors (smoke and heat and carbon monoxide), pre-engineered suppression systems, gas and oil fired appliances not connected to the plumbing system, kitchen exhaust systems:

1.   1 to 20 heads                        $75.00

2.   21 to 100 heads                    $135.00

3.   101 to 200 heads                  $250.00

4.   201 to 400 heads                  $650.00

5.      401 to 1,000 heads               $830.00

6.      Over 1,000 heads                  $1,050.00

7.      1 to12 detectors                    $50.00

8.      For each 25 additional detectors                    $15.00

9.      Standpipe, each                                             $250.00

10.  Independent pre-engineered system, each      $100.00

11.  Gas or oil fired appliance not connected to the

plumbing system, each                 $65.00

12.  Kitchen exhaust system (commercial), each  $65.00

 

C.  Fire permit re-instatement   ……….$50.00


 

Section 3.         Section 12-2 Fee Schedules, Schedule “A”, item 4. Electrical Subcode Fees is hereby repealed in its entirety and replaced with the following:

 

4.  ELECTRICAL SUBCODE FEES.

 

A.  Light fixtures, receptacles, switches, detectors and all devices rated 20 amps or less or rated 1 horsepower (hp), 1 kilowatt (kw) or 1 kilovolt amp (kva):

1.   1 to 25 devices………………..…………………….$50.00

2.   For each additional 25 devices …………..……add $12.00

B.   Each motor or device rated greater than 20 to 50 amps or greater than 1 to 10(hp/kw/kva):

                                    1.  1 to 4 devices:                                                         $50.00

2.  For each additional device:                                       add $10.00

C.  Each motor or device rated greater than     

            10 to 50(hp/kw/kva) or greater than

            50 to 225 amps                                                           $65.00

D.  Each motor, device or transformer rated greater than

            50 to 100(hp/kw/kva) or greater than

            225 to 600 amps or greater than

            50 to 112.5(kw/kva)                                                    $100.00

E.   Each motor or device rated greater than

            100 to 1,000(hp/kw/kva) or greater than

            600 to 1000 amps                                                        $200.00

F.   Each motor or device rated greater than

            1,000 (hp/kw/kva) or each motor or device rated greater than

            1000 amps or each transformer greater than

            112.5 (kw/kva)                                                            $450.00

G.  Annual electrical inspections of public swimming pools and equipment          $65.00

H.  Electrical permit re-instatement fee                          $50.00

 

Section 2.         If any provision, section, subsection, or paragraph of this Ordinance shall be declared unconstitutional, invalid, or inoperative, in whole or in part, by a Court of competent jurisdiction, such provision, section, subsection, or paragraph shall, to the extent that it is not unconstitutional, invalid or inoperative, remain in full force and effect, and no such determination shall be deemed to invalidate the remaining provisions, subsections, or paragraphs of this Ordinance.

 

Section 3.         This Ordinance shall take effect January 1, 2009, which shall be after final adoption and publication in accordance with law.
