RESOLUTION #2008-026

AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN INTERLOCAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS AND THE LONG BEACH ISLAND MUNICIPALITIES FOR THE RETENTION OF A LOBBYIST

WHEREAS the Interlocal Services Act NJSA 40:8A-1 et seq. authorizes local units as defined in that Act to enter into agreements for provision of certain governmental services; and

WHEREAS the Borough of Harvey Cedars desires to enter into an agreement with the Borough of Barnegat Light, the Borough of Surf City, the Borough of Ship Bottom, the Borough of Beach Haven and the Township of Long Beach for the retention of Winning Strategies Washington LLC, a lobbyist, to lobby the Congress of the United States to help secure the necessary federal funds for the US Army Corps of Engineers’ Long Beach Island Beach Protection and Maintenance Project; and

WHEREAS said Interlocal Services Agreement provides the costs of the lobbying contract shall be borne in accordance with the following schedule:

Long Beach Township 53%

Borough of Barnegat Light 09%

Borough of Harvey Cedars 11%

Borough of Surf City 08%

Borough of Ship Bottom 08%

Borough of Beach Haven 11%; and

WHEREAS said Interlocal Services Agreement provides that the Township of Long Beach shall be the signatory party with Winning Strategies Washington, LLC.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Harvey Cedars that:

1. The Mayor and Municipal Clerk of the Borough of Harvey Cedars are hereby authorized and directed to enter into and execute an Interlocal Services Agreement for 2008 in the accordance with the proposal heretofore provided by Winning Strategies Washington, LLC.

2. A copy of the Agreement shall remain on file and be available for public inspection at the office of the Municipal Clerk located at the Borough of Harvey Cedars Municipal Building, 7606 Long Beach Blvd., Harvey Cedars, New Jersey 08008.
