RESOLUTION #2006-125
RESOLUTION OF THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS, COUNTY OF OCEAN, STATE OF NEW JERSEY OPPOSING THE NEWLY PUBLISHED CHANGE OF BEACH RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION
WHEREAS the Borough of Harvey Cedars has been diligently working with other Long Beach Island towns and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) and Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) to become a participant in the Federally funded Storm Damage and Reduction Project; and
WHEREAS the NJDEP has released its proposed new Land Use Rules and Regulations in the New Jersey Register published November 6, 2006; and
WHEREAS the Borough of Harvey Cedars has publicly supported the Beach Project in every possible way including the need for public access, public parking and reasonably placed restrooms.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Borough of Harvey Cedars is solidly committed and in support of this project as it works with its residents to provide them with essential information and works tirelessly to gain the oceanfront Deeds of Easement that are necessary prior to the start of the project in the Borough; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Harvey Cedars supports the position of Long Beach Township and requests that State legislators having constituents within their borders who own property in the Borough of Harvey Cedars and who support the project, petition the NJDEP to relax its requirements for public access every ¼ mile and restrooms every ½ mile; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this resolution be submitted to the NJDEP during the public comment period and distributed to the following:
