THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS

RECOGNIZING THE DISTINCTION OF THIS YEAR’S

“MAYORS’ SCHOLAR”

Whereas in each high school academic year, and in every high school within Ocean County, the Ocean County Mayors’ Association upon the recommendation of the Ocean County Superintendents’ Roundtable selection committee, chooses members of the Senior class, who have distinguished themselves by academic achievement and interest in history, government and community involvement, as a Mayors’ Scholar; and

Whereas since its inception in 1994, the Ocean County Mayors’ Association Scholarship Award Program has provided over $324,000.00 in individual $1,000.00 scholarship awards to students worthy of distinction and recognition of their efforts; and

Whereas Brian Baum, a senior class member of Southern Regional High School, was selected as a Mayors’ Scholar for the year 2006, and was awarded a $1,000.00 college scholarship on June 1, 2006; and

Whereas such distinction as Mayors’ Scholar recognizes the personal dedication and effort toward individual educational advancement of Brian Baum.

Now, therefore, be it resolved that Mayor Jonathan Oldham and the Governing Body of the Borough of Harvey Cedars, extend congratulations to Brian Baum on receiving the Scholarship Award with the recognition of his personal academic achievement.
