RESOLUTION #2007-110

 

 

AUTHORIZING METER CREDITS UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS

 

 

WHEREAS the Borough of Harvey Cedars is undergoing a meter installation project mandated by the State of New Jersey; and

 

WHEREAS pursuant to Ordinance No. 2007-09, each residential service within the borough shall have installed by the Public Works Department a water meter and the cost of the water meter shall be charged to the property owner in accordance with the size of the water service at the property; and

 

WHEREAS the governing body is aware that a similar meter project began in the 1960’s where property owners may have paid for a meter in the amount of $70.00; and

 

WHEREAS the governing body has determined a credit may be issued under specific circumstances to property owners that have previously paid for a meter under the old ordinance.  

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Harvey Cedars that the Utility Collector is authorized to issue a credit of fifty dollars ($50.00) to property owners that have paid for a meter in the 1960’s or 1970’s after providing one of the following proofs:

1.      Copies of paid invoices for a water meter totaling seventy dollars ($70.00).

2.      If an obsolete meter is found in a meter pit on the property and the current property owner can prove ownership or family ownership of said property at the time the obsolete meter was installed.
