AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN INTERLOCAL SERVICES AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE BOROUGH OF HARVEY CEDARS AND THE TOWNSHIP OF LONG BEACH FOR THE
SHARING OF TRASH AND RECYCLING SERVICES
ON WILLIAM STREET IN HARVEY CEDARS
WHEREAS the Interlocal Services Act NJSA 40:8A-1 et seq. authorizes local units as defined in that Act to enter into agreements for provision of certain governmental services; and
WHEREAS William Street in Harvey Cedars borders the North Beach section of Long Beach Township and said street houses residents from both Harvey Cedars (north side) and Long Beach Township (south side); and
WHEREAS complaints have been received by residents of Harvey Cedars and Long Beach Township that trash and recycling services provided by both municipalities creates heavy truck traffic on William Street and have suggested to combine said services; and
WHEREAS it is the desire of Borough of Harvey Cedars to create a more pleasurable environment for its community by entering into an agreement with the Township of Long Beach for the sharing of trash and recycling services for William Street.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Harvey Cedars as follows:
1. The Commissioner of Public Works and the Municipal Clerk are hereby authorized to execute this agreement with the Township of Long Beach.
2. The Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Harvey Cedars hereby authorizes the Township of Long Beach to provide trash collection to the Harvey Cedars’ properties on William Street as set forth in the Township’s trash schedule.
3. The Borough of Harvey Cedars shall hereby be responsible to collect all recyclable materials from the Township of Long Beach’s properties on William Street as set forth in the Borough’s recycling schedule.
4. This agreement shall be effective January 1, 2008 and shall remain effective until either the Township of Long Beach or the Borough of Harvey Cedars terminates this agreement in writing.
5. Each municipality shall inform its residents of this agreement.
6. Upon receiving a current property ownership list, the Borough of Harvey Cedars shall forward each year to the Township of Long Beach’s William Street residents the Borough’s recycling schedule.
7. Upon receiving a current property ownership list, the Township of Long Beach shall forward each year to the Borough of Harvey Cedars’ William Street residents the Township’s trash schedule.
8. Copies of this executed agreement shall be forwarded to the trash/recycling collection agencies of both municipalities and to the Public Works departments of both municipalities.
